MARLEQ: Have you had any personal or professional experiences that influenced your decision to become a career coach?

Eva Aksahin: After gaining several years of experience in the recruitment field, it has become a natural choice to work with clients, who are seeking to enhance their career and professional growth.

MARLEQ: From your experience as a health coach, is there a relationship between a professional’s health and career choices?

Eva Aksahin: Yes, there can be a relationship between a professional's health and their career choices. I have observed that individuals who prioritize their health and well-being are more likely to make career choices that align with their values and support their overall well-being. These individuals may choose careers that offer flexibility and work-life balance.

On the other hand, those who neglect their health may choose to work in high-stress environments with long hours, and sacrificing their well-being for professional success.

Overall, maintaining good health can positively influence career decisions by enabling individuals to make choices that align with their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

MARLEQ: What are some of your high points as a career coach?

Eva Aksahin: First, I am finding personal satisfaction in helping clients to make a significant career advancement or to make a positive impact on clients’ lives by providing support, guidance and direction. Hearing my clients’ success stories, and witnessing them develop valuable skills and confidence is a huge reward for me too.

Moreover, I think continuous professional growth is crucial to remain up-to-date with industry trends and coaching practices, hence I am working on constantly improving my coaching skills to be able to provide the best services to my clients, which I also enjoy very much.

MARLEQ: How do you help international professionals looking to land a job in Qatar?

Eva Aksahin: Over the past 15 years, the job market has matured significantly and become increasingly saturated and demanding. This shift has led to heightened expectations on both sides, making it crucial for individuals to navigate the job search process strategically. As a professional in this field, my focus is to assist clients in setting realistic expectations, developing effective job search strategies, and establishing meaningful career goals.

In addition to managing expectations, I guide my clients in identifying their unique strengths, skills, and experiences that make them marketable. Together, we develop tailored resumes, cover letters, and online profiles that highlight their strengths and attract the attention of potential employers. I also provide guidance on networking, interview preparation, and utilizing online job platforms to enhance their job search efforts.

Beyond the immediate job search, I support my clients in establishing meaningful career goals. By engaging in in-depth discussions and assessments, we identify their long-term aspirations and create a roadmap for their professional growth. I help them explore potential career paths, assess their transferrable skills, and identify opportunities for further development or education.

MARLEQ: What role does personal development play in career development?

Eva Aksahin: Personal development plays a crucial role in career development. By investing in personal growth and self-improvement, individuals can enhance their skills, knowledge, and mindset, which directly impacts their career success.

Personal development helps individuals gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, values, and goals. This also allows them to identify areas for improvement and take steps to develop new skills or address any shortcomings that may hinder their career progress.

Furthermore, personal development fosters a growth mindset and resilience. It helps individuals to adapt to change, overcome challenges, and bounce back from setbacks. In a rapidly evolving job market, being resilient is crucial for career success. Hence investing in personal growth not only benefits individuals in their current roles but also positions them for future career advancement and success.

MARLEQ: With the emergence of AI, do you think professionals will be negatively affected?

Eva Aksahin: We cannot deny that the rapid advancement of technology (especially in AI) has the potential to significantly transform job markets and ways of working in the coming decades. This may lead to the elimination of certain jobs, but at the same time, it also presents new opportunities for individuals to explore. Keeping up with the everchanging and rapidly evolving job market, it is crucial for individuals to remain adaptable and continuously upskill themselves.

MARLEQ: As a coach, who is your target audience?

Eva Aksahin: Primarily working with aspiring women who are looking to upskill their competencies and develop strong leadership potentials; as well as expect women or stay-home mums who are returning to the job market and in need of a confidence boost.

MARLEQ: How do you relax after a long week? What does your perfect vacation look like?

Eva Aksahin: I draw my inspiration and energy from the simplicity of nature and being out in the greenery gives me a sense of connection to the natural world. Definitely, I enjoy active holidays a lot more, when I can visit historical sites, nature reserves and cultural heritages, which are stimulating both physically and intellectually.

Spending time with my family is somewhat very precious for me and I always make sure I dedicate time to my family and friends creating lasting memories together.
